The two seem to go hand-in-hand. Email inboxes full of coupons and deals from your favorite stores. Mobile apps updating you with online or in-store discount codes for use. Text messages from your favorite shopping spots with special deals and incentives. Buyers around the globe are ready to spend, and retailers with savvy digital marketing allure have the edge.

So, what might you be able to do with your small or mid-sized business this season to beef up sales? One tactic would be to make effective use of the current client database at your fingertips. You may decide to send a simple “Merry Christmas” message to everyone in your system. There may be a holiday special you can promote to those who already have buy-in with your company. We all know word-of-mouth is incredibly powerful, and our best product heroes are those who have already or are currently using our services! So, put something in their hands with which to be excited!

Another tactic would be to redesign your company’s website. Suggestions for redesigning a successful website vary from every two years to every five years. It may be time to revisit the needs and wants of your target market. When they visit your website, are they finding what they’re looking for? Is your website “sticky” (meaning…do viewers want to stick on your site)? What types of information can you add for 2015 to draw more potential customers to your website?
